They don't teach popular culture in school. For most people it's unnecessary. Everyone knows it already. But I wasn't exposed to popular culture as a child. I had to sneak albums into my room as a teen and hide them in my sock drawer. I "discovered" the Beatles when I was 19 years old."What? You don't know this?!" the world says to me. I just shrug my shoulders, then go home and spend all night on wikipedia.
