On My Stereo II

I'm loving hearing your recommendations. Keep them coming. I'm going to do this more often.

Allow me to point you towards Skeeter Davis.

'Where I Ought To Be'
'I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know'

Myspace

Leah and Joel laugh sometimes when I crank her in the middle of the afternoon, and I know where they're coming from, but no -she's a big deal.

Also,

The Fall have this song 'I Am Damo Suzuki' that is the most frantic and rock'n'roll thing I have heard since I don't know when. It's foaming at the mouth. Like, the band is using every ounce of energy to keep from bursting into flame. But there's grace too. I don't know. It's just incredible.

I'm continuing the comments from part 1 below.

Dragonslayer is good? That's exciting. I found Random Spirit Lover underwhelming (though 'Mending of the Gown' is really something), so I hadn't listened to this new one yet. Now I'll have to.

Yeah, I've played 'Lost In Space' into the ground. Classic.

Neko Case just doesn't do it for me. Or hasn't. But the fact that you, and Dave and Nathan and others, like her so much makes me wonder what I'm missing.

The others I have not heard. I'm adding them to the list.

'Roast fish and Cornbread' by Lee Scratch Perry. From the album 'Roast fish, Cornbread and Collie Weed'

I don't know if you do reggae or not, but if you do...do this.

I will.

Jumping in because I feel like I've missed out:
Midlake: 'Roscoe'
Flaming Lips and Yoko Ono: 'Cambridge 1969/2007'
Frightened Rabbit: 'To Keep Warm'
Cat Power's Covers Record
Grizzly Bear's Friend EP
'L'Etonnant Serge Gainsbourg' (just getting into him - there may be better albums but I'm enjoying this one so far)

Forrest:
Paris, Texas -yes!

Boyda:
Great list. I look forward to checking out Midlake and Frightened Rabbit. I'd never heard of them, so thanks for that.

Have you heard the Cat Power/Yoko Ono version of Ono's 'Revelations'? It's like a smarter, more insightful version of 'Imagine.' I really appreciate that Ono makes room for negativity and bad behaviour, even if she does get a little too flowery and earth-motherish for my taste.

Yeah, I totally agree. And that Cat Power/Yoko song is already posted on the side of my blog :).
