The Constantines, The Wipers, and Everything That's Wrong With the West

The Constantines - Self-titled (2001)
I bought this album a long time ago and didn't care for it on the first listen, so I set it aside. This year I realized it's one of the better LPs I own.

Buy it here.

I've been enjoying The Wipers.

Their song 'Taking Too Long' is ridiculously perfect.

I discovered them via Kurt Cobain's list of his 50 favourite albums. Google it.

Remember when I wrote the list of 'Things to Hate A Man For Being'? Well, this is what you become if you fulfill everything on that list (everything that's wrong with the West, and the Left, and post-modernity, is captured in this video):

Do you see what I mean now when I say rock and roll needs more of a "fuck you" attitude? Rock has to provide an alternative to the universe that leads to videos like that. We can't participate in this.

"Let me pull out a journal and see, 'what are my values?'" I feel like I'm suffocating.

Perhaps your suffocation is a result of you suffocating others. Do you think we are mirrored in the Other?

Mirrored in the Other? Yeah. Self-hatred.

Im sorry. I am immersed in theory right now - and the greatest downfall of theory is that doesnt really have feelings.

I am glad that your posts are back.
