Sunday

I'm trying to exorcise the lies from my life, which may not be a wise thing to do. No more false comfort.

I admire those men who won't tolerate a lie. I can't think of any women.

I've got to strip everything down. I don't see a lot of men who survived that stripping process. Ingmar Bergman's body survived, but he seemed like a pretty unhappy person. Same with Michel Houellebecq.

Johnny Cash survived the process. How did he do it? Probably his Christianity.

Damn. For me Christianity is a lie.

What do you mean by "not tolerate a lie"?

[And of course I must comment when my gender is specifically mentioned. I am so easily baited, I know. But, to be clear, I'm not offended, just curious; my question is an honest one.)

Sarah! It's been a long time. Too long.

To answer your question:

People who will "not tolerate a lie," are those who are so ferocious in their love of truth that they cut through the fashionable thought of their day. These people are usually pretty easy to spot.

Regarding gender, let me say that I think what is a lie/hypocrisy for a man is not necessarily so for a woman. So what I admire in a masculine person I might despise in a feminine person, and vice versa.

What do you think? I also am asking honestly.

*note: I think some men are feminine people, and some women are masculine. But for simplicity's sake I often use male/masculine and female/feminine interchangeably.

I'm gonna write about women in a new entry. We can continue this conversation up there.
